President’s Page- by King Heiple
As we begin our 2002 Club year, as President I want to publicly recognize all those who have contributed so much to the popularity and growth of one of AAW’s most successful local chapters. As most members know we keep a sign up board and activities check list at every meeting, and we pester you to sign in! For those who are new these are the activities for which we give “points” for our annual recognition list:
• Attending regular meeting [must sign in] - 2 pts.
• Bringing a piece for the Show& Tell table - 2 pts.
• Donation to the monthly raffle table - 2 pts.
•Taking part in Club challenge project - 3
• Giving a demonstration at a meeting - 10 pts.
• Writing a woodturning article - 5 pts.
• Working at Woodworker’s show - 3 pts.
• Participation in Gt. Lakes WdCvrs. Show - 5 pts.
The following is this years honor roll and their points.
1 Pugh, Jim 98 11 Nasca, Tony 39
2 Gasler, Don 92 12 Becker, Brian 38
3 Duxbury, Jim 85 13 Bolles, George 38
4 Heiple, King 84 14 Kawentel, Albert 38
5 Gray, Dick 81 15 Heffernan, Tom 36
6 Brindle, Jim 58 16 Hogarth, Tom 33
7 Dickson, Pete 50 17 Kopanski, Mike 33
8 Quisenberry, Joe 48 18 LaLonde, Paul 32
9 Noce, Bill 44 19 Raeder, George 32
10 Skinner, Bob 40 20 Kraps, Joe 29
It should be noted that officers/directors get no points for only their office and that because of this and the nature of the point list that a number of “heavy duty” contributors don’t quite always make the list. My special “presidents appreciation” to these additional:
Jim Bohmer - our indefatigable treasurer, we all extend our sympathy for his recent loss of his mother! Note: he needs your dues if you are late!
Thad Badowski - the publisher and editor of this outstanding newsletter and our web site.
Rich Owens - our librarian.
Marc Schreiber - who keeps the point award records.
and finally to Rosemary Macedonio and Tom Heffernan for shepherding through our new By Laws and our application to become a Educational Non-profit organization,
Also, thanks to the other members throughout the year who don’t hesitate to take on projects- such as the auction, the woodworker’s show, the carving show!
It should be apparent that giving a club demo is a big boost in your point standings. We need talented members who are willing to do so. Talk to Jim Pugh! But if you simply came to every meeting and brought a show piece and a raffle piece you would make the honor roll!
